DESCRIPTION

Building a robust community is about more than the provision of resources and benefits. Companies need to think about how they can take members on a journey and deliver value at each step. This is a process that requires constant work and intentionality.

Today’s special guest is Marjorie Anderson, Founder of Community by Association, and Product Manager for Community at Project Management Institute. Marjorie’s experience has given her a wealth of knowledge on the subject of creating integrated and mutually beneficial experiences between organizations and communities.

After hearing from our guest about the evolution and work of Community by Association, we dive right in and hear about how community is approached there and at Project Management Institute. Marjorie takes us through the ways that PMI connects with its members, builds and tracks the journeys they go on within the community, and incorporates insights from this data into the product design and decision-making going forward.

Toward the end of the show, Marjorie busts some common misconceptions, where she emphasizes the notion that community building is neither technology-driven, nor is it quick, easy, and passive.
